Marrakech, its monuments and the marrakchis

Probably the symbol of Marrakech. From every terrace in the Medina, you can see its minaret built at the 12th century which is one of the islamic art treasure.
Take some time to walk all around the building in the garden with its thousand roses.

Built during the 12th century and rebuilt in the 19th, in this coranic school, you will admire the richness of the moroccan craft industry (zellige, stuccos and sculpted wood).
Few meters from there, you also can visit the museum of Marrakech, a beautiful and rich house also decorated with stuccos, marquettery and zellige.

An old palace built in the 19th century by the vizier Be Ahmed Ben Moussa. It is an example of the Moorish architecture with lots of green patio and rooms decorated by the most famous Moroccan craftmen.

After the discovery of that Palace, let walk till the ruins of the Badii Palace or the Saoudian Tombs. Both are other example of the Moorish Art.

But what would be Marrakech without its famous souks ? Nobody can imagine the old city without those so many shops full of handcraft or without the colour full spices...

Between babouches, carpets, tissus, leather clothes... you do not really know where to look.

You just have to walk and get lost in these narrow streets to find the treasury you dream about.

Do not be afraid to get lost... it is the way to discover special places and the secrets of this Medina. You will probably have the chance to see some very small workshops and their craftmen still working as their ancestors.

And do not miss the famous Jemaa El Fna square. That is the place to feel the city with its unfixed restaurants, snake charmers, storytellers and pullers of tooth...
