The Moukef area

In the Medina, there are differents areas : luxurious areas, touristics areas and popular areas.

The Moukef area, is one of those few popular areas, where lots of moroccan people live. Riad Azenzer is located in the heart of this area where you could meet moroccan in there daily life. You will probably enjoy see how they live, how children go to school, where they buy vegetable, fruits..., how they can talk for hours in the streets...

By staying at the Riad Azenzer you will live in the old Marrakech. I will never forget a word of a french-moroccan pinter, living in this area for around 20 years : "Just come to the Moukef area and you will see how Marrakech is still the same...".

Just be aware that Marrakech is not an european city, especially this area, and you will take a day to get use of its small streets and its mess with people and mopets everywhere.

After a while, you really will enjoy the inhabitants of the area and their wonderful smiles. And maybe you will appreciate to be like a moroccan : just walk in order to join the souks (only at 5 minutes from there).
